Foods Known To Make You Smarter

There are many ways to test and increase your intelligence or IQ, like solving crossword puzzles and brain teasers. Of course, such exercises will not be practical after some time, but the only factor which will stick with you is your diet, a healthy and balanced diet.

Beta-carotene, folate, and vitamin C are the nutrients that help the brain and enhance the cells’ work. Some of the foods which are suitable for your brain are below.

    Black Beans

The hormone required for enhanced thinking and focusing is the neurotransmitter dopamine. But many people do not know that most of the dopamine in our body is from our guts. This means that the food we eat can help in enhancing the amount of dopamine. Foods that increase dopamine production have amino acid tyrosine and its precursor. And both of these things are found in hard cheese, kidney beans, walnuts, eggs, and black beans.

    Blueberries

There is no better option to get a sharp mind than paying attention to your lifestyle, which consists of getting nice sleep, staying active, and having healthy food. For example, blueberries have an organic bioactive chemical known as anthocyanin, which assists your brain’s neurons in performing tasks.

    Tomatoes

Tomatoes have a compound called lycopene, which can help your brain in learning and keeping memories. So ignore the misconceptions regarding lectins, and have salsa and pasta sauce without any worries. You might not know about it, but cherry tomatoes look small, but they are full of lycopene, so make sure you include cherry tomatoes in every other dish.

    Apples

You must’ve heard the saying, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away,” well, it is very much accurate in this context as having apples daily is connected to having an anti-aging impact on the brain. In addition, medical professionals believe that eating apples can help in enhancing memory and perhaps cure Alzheimer’s disease.

    Probiotics

Many professionals rely on probiotics to maintain gut health. Many research and reports have shown a relationship between the gastrointestinal tract and the brain, implying that the digestive system is not for digesting food only.

    Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin seeds make sure that your brain is safe from radical damage through their antioxidant characteristics. Pumpkin seeds are full of micronutrients like magnesium, iron, copper, and zinc, best for the brain’s functioning.

    Oranges

As mentioned before, vitamin C is also one of the nutrients that enhances memory, and that is why it helps prevent conditions that come as you start to age, like Alzheimer’s disease and mental decline. In addition, vitamin C is an antioxidant that can fight free radical damage-causing brain cells.

    Nuts

According to many types of research, nuts can help in reducing the possibilities of having neuro digestive conditions. Along with vitamin E and healthy fats and antioxidants, these nuts must support your brain health and help give you a very sharp memory. Walnut, hazelnut and almonds, these three nuts are known for their positive effects in reducing Alzheimer’s disease in older adults.

    Dark Chocolate

They are full of caffeine, antioxidants, and flavonoids, which have brain-boosting characteristics. Other than that, chocolate is known as one of the best mood and memory enhancers. There are a lot of flavonoids that can acutely enhance cognitive abilities in humans, and probably through mechanisms like improved blood flow.

    Conclusion

Sure, puzzles and riddles do make you wise, but they do not make you focused and mentally healthy in the long run. So, a diet is better than any puzzle or riddle. In addition, most of the foods above you can consume daily.
